Good morning and happy Friday!

After the first week of spring felt decidedly winter-like with cooler temperatures, flurries and freezing rain — things are looking a bit less dreary for your long weekend.

As of 5:30 a.m., it was 1 C in Toronto. Mainly cloudy skies are in the forecast today with a 40 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries early this morning and a high of 5 C.

A special weather statement has ended for Toronto as of 9:45 a.m. The statement was issued by Environment Canada due to "brisk winds" that could have potentially caused "significant impact" on power outages in the city Friday morning due to falling trees.

The cloudy skies are expected to clear later today with an overnight low of -4 C.

Sunny, warm long weekend

A sunny Saturday and Sunday are on the way for your long weekend. Tomorrow will start with a mix of sun and cloud and then it will clear off with a high of 6 C.

On Sunday, the temperature is expected to rise even higher to 11 C with a mix of sun and cloud.
