Toronto has recorded its first murder of the year after a man was shot and killed in Scarborough.

The shooting occurred on Hupfield Trail, near Neilson Road and Finch Avenue.

Police responded to an emergency call shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead on scene.

There is no word on any suspects or motive yet.

Last year, 45 people were killed in Toronto, making it the lowest number of murders the city has seen since 1986.
