Toronto police issue warrant in murder of 78-year-old woman

Toronto police have issued an warrant for a 46-year-old man in connection with the death of Manijeh Bostani-Khamsi, a 78-year-old woman.

Toronto police have issued an warrant for a 46-year-old man in connection with the death of a 78-year-old Toronto woman.

Fernando De Castro, 46, of the Philippines, is wanted for first-degree murder.

Manijeh Bostani-Khamsi, 78, was found dead in her Wynford Drive and Eglinton Avenue East area apartment on Nov. 17, 2012 with obvious signs of injury. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

De Castro allegedly entered Bostani-Khamsi‘s apartment at around 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Police say that the victim hired De Castro and his wife, Melpa De Castro, to clean her home.

The couple allegedly arrived in Canada in 2007 as visitors and rented several apartments throughout the city, working as house cleaners and healthcare providers for elderly clients.

Police say on Nov. 20, De Castro and his wife fled Canada and are now believed to be in the Philippines.

Police are asking the public for their help in locating any witnesses who have had any contact with De Castro during that time.
