Police found two children in distress at Howard Johnston hotel on Monday evening
A Toronto man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his six-year-old daughter and with the attempted murder of his son.
On Monday afternoon, police were called out to a home in Scarborough.
Their investigation led them to a Howard Johnson hotel at 22 Metropolitan Rd., where they found a child in "obvious distress."
The girl was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A boy was also in medical distress when police arrived at the hotel. He was also taken to hospital.
On Thursday, police issued a press release identifying the deceased girl as six-year-old Evangeline Adotey.
Her father, Jason Adotey, 35, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
He is due to appear in a Toronto court next Wednesday.
