Instead of birthday presents, one 5-year-old asks guests to donate money to charity 2:04

For his fifth birthday, Xavier La Maguer asked his mother for something a little different — instead of a traditional birthday party, he wanted to host a charity fundraiser.

“He was just crying his little heart out and he tells me, ‘Mommy did you know that there are kids suffering around the world?’” said his mother, Nicole La Maguer.

Xavier’s party, which included face painting and an inflatable bouncy castle, was held at a playground provided by his school for the occasion.

Instead of presents, his guests were asked to give donations that would go towards building an orphanage in Kenya.

Within the first 10 minutes, he raised over $2,000.
