If you were hoping to snag seats for the Toronto Blue Jays 2016 home opener you may be out of luck.

The tickets for the April 8th game against the Boston Red Sox sold out about 30 minutes after going on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The Toronto Blue Jays released a statement explaining that a minimal number tickets are reserved for players and league officials.

"To the extent that these tickets are returned to the club, they will be made available for public sale," the statement added.

Officials ask that people continue to check online for availability.

Tickets for the rest of the opening weekend series — April 9-10 at the Rogers Centre — are still available.
