A total of eight vehicles were damaged early Monday in a suspicious two-alarm fire at a car dealership and body shop in the Keele Street and Finch Avenue West area.
Police believe the fires at Quality Used Car Wholesales — located at 31 Toro Rd. — were set deliberately. Four vehicles were destroyed by the flames while four others were damaged by heat from the fire.
The owner of the business told CBC news that his security cameras captured images of someone throwing a container of gasoline at one of the cars, which then burst into flames.
Ontario's fire marshal is investigating.
Could be connected to other vehicle fires
Police are investigating a possible connection to other vehicle fires that happened in the area over the weekend.
A total of three other car fires were reported Saturday night in the area of Jane Street and Wilson Avenue and Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West.
All three cars were parked on different streets in residential area driveways. Police are investigating those fires as arson.
