A three-alarm fire broke out at a home near Jane Street and Weston Road on Tuesday afternoon.
At about 12:15 p.m., firefighters were called to a building at 13 Lippincott St. E., after callers reported seeing flames and smoke.
The responding firefighters found heavy smoke and flames in the building’s stairwell. A ceiling came down and forced them to exit the building.
The fire, which was upgraded from a two-alarm incident, involved townhomes that are sharing an attic space.
Later Tuesday, a Toronto Fire spokesperson told CBC News that one person had been taken to hospital with burns and possible smoke inhalation.
Seven people lived in the home where the fire broke out, but three are currently outside of the country.
Firefighters say that two adjacent houses — at 9 and 11 Lippincott St. E., were also damaged.
