The Don Valley Parkway closed this weekend

The northbound and southbound lanes of the DVP are closed for spring maintenance until Sunday morning.

Northbound and southbound lanes shut down for spring maintenance

Toronto may hit peak traffic congestion this weekend when a major north-south artery closes and another is partially closed to traffic for a marathon.

The northbound and southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway will be closed for spring maintenance beginning on Friday at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m. But rain is in the forecast this weekend, meaning the work could be pushed back to its rain date of May 23-26.

The DVP closure comes in conjunction with ongoing construction on the Gardiner Expressway and, on Sunday, both the Toronto Marathon and a possible Toronto Raptors game.

The marathon will close the Spadina Avenue and Jarvis Street off-ramp access to Lake Shore Boulevard.

Also clogging up that area will be traffic to and from the Air Canada Centre, where the Raptors will be play Brooklyn on Sunday.
