Toronto may hit peak traffic congestion this weekend when a major north-south artery closes and another is partially closed to traffic for a marathon.

The northbound and southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway will be closed for spring maintenance beginning on Friday at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m. But rain is in the forecast this weekend, meaning the work could be pushed back to its rain date of May 23-26.

The DVP closure comes in conjunction with ongoing construction on the Gardiner Expressway and, on Sunday, both the Toronto Marathon and a possible Toronto Raptors game.

The marathon will close the Spadina Avenue and Jarvis Street off-ramp access to Lake Shore Boulevard.

Also clogging up that area will be traffic to and from the Air Canada Centre, where the Raptors will be play Brooklyn on Sunday.
