Weeks after being wounded in the deadly violence that unfolded at an east-end street party, a Toronto teenager was again caught in the line of fire on the Labour Day weekend.
Toronto police say a 17-year-old boy was shot in the upper thigh of his left leg while riding his bike on Sunday afternoon, near Victoria Park and Finch Avenue.
A suspect was unable to fire a second shot and the wounded teen was able to get away.
The victim’s mother brought him to hospital where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
CBC News has learned that the victim was among the more than 20 people wounded when the gunfire erupted on Danzig Street in July. Two people were killed when shots rang out at the crowded street party.
The Danzig Street gun violence spurred police to put extra officers on the street for the last weeks of the summer and to appeal to the public to help them take weapons away from people who can harm others.
