A woman suffered serious injuries when her vehicle struck a TTC bus on Royal York Road on Sunday morning, Toronto police say.
Police were called to the scene at Royal York Road and Hillside Avenue just before 10 a.m.
Staff Sgt. David Stirling told CBC News that a 54-year-old woman was driving in a Honda Civic heading westbound on Hillside Avenue.
The driver was traveling at a speed in excess of the posted limit of 40 km/h when she went around a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection and then struck a bus that was stopped on Royal York Road.
Sgt. Richard Nimmo told CBC News that the woman suffered multiple lower-body fractures. It took about half an hour to remove her from the vehicle so that she could be transported to hospital.
Stirling said that officers from the traffic services unit are still investigating the collision.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-1900, or to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
TTC buses were diverting in both direction on Royal York Road for much of Sunday afternoon. But the intersection has since reopened and the TTC has tweeted that bus service is back to normal.
