A Toronto man has turned himself in days after a fatal pedestrian collision in Markham, Ont.
York Regional Police say that a 72-year-old man was fatally struck while crossing Kennedy Road, near Denison Road, in Markham last Saturday evening.
Police say the victim was struck by a southbound vehicle — a light-coloured Volvo S40 — that fled the scene.
A 26-year-old Toronto man turned himself in on Wednesday evening.
He appeared in a Newmarket, Ont., court on Thursday, on three fail-to-stop counts.
At least 10 people died on Ontario roads last weekend, including nine victims in southern Ontario alone.
