A Toronto man is facing fraud charges after police allege he collected up-front fees for snow-clearing services that were never provided.

Irakli Kristesiashvili, 23, is facing four counts of fraud and one count of possession of stolen property.

Police say many of the victims were seniors left housebound by snow drifts on their driveways and sidewalks.

Police say flyers advertising snow clearing services were posted in the North York area for two companies: Geo Line Seasonal Services and Unique Seasonal Services.

He told home owners he lived in the neighbourhood, and had professional-looking business cards and contracts.

A man would visit homeowners in response to a call, and collect money in advance for clearing snow.

Clients who tried to contact the man after a snowfall often found the number out of service, according to police.

A total of 18 victims have come forward, but police believe there may be others.
