Honest Ed and Tecumseh to represent Toronto at Obama's inauguration

Two horses from Toronto Police Mounted Unit will be in Washington later this month to take part in the inauguration ceremonies for President Barack Obama.
Honest Ed and Tecumseh will stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue on Jan. 21. For 'Ed' it will be inauguration number two.
"He's our veteran, whereas I've never been," said Sgt. Jim Patterson who will ride the horse in the parade.
Honest Ed walked in Obama's first inauguration in 2009.
Toronto's Mounted Unit is usually used for crowd control and patrolling. But these horses were also chosen to represent important Toronto connections.
"I thought it would be great to take Honest Ed - who was named for a man who was so important to Toronto over the years - and Tecumseh - a native aboriginal chief who was instrumental in helping Canada remain a country, but who was also seen as a hero in the United States," said Staff Insp. Bill Wardle
For the Mirvish family and department store staff it's also a great honour.
"We couldn't be more pleased," said Russell Lazar, manager of the department store. "[The horse] is part of our family."
