Santa Claus is coming to town — but his parade route means it will be difficult to get around on Sunday.
The best advice: Take the TTC.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in Canada's largest city on Sunday to headline the annual parade.
But the parade route travels along some of the city's busiest streets and police are warning drivers there will be problems moving around during the parade.
The parade starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m., but police say many streets will close earlier for safety reasons.
Toronto police released a comprehensive list of when road closures will begin on Sunday.
- 8:00 a.m., Bloor Street West, from Ossington Avenue to Christie Street
- 10:00 a.m., Bloor Street West, from Christie Street to Bathurst Street
- 11:00 a.m., Bloor Street West, from Bathurst Street to Bay Street
- 11:00 a.m., Avenue Road/Queen’s Park, from Davenport Road to College Street
- 11:30 a.m., University Avenue, from College Street to Dundas Street
- 12:00 p.m., University Avenue, from Dundas Street to Front Street
- 1:00 p.m., Wellington Street, from University Avenue to Jarvis Street
- 1:15 p.m., Front Street, from Bay Street to Jarvis Street
The roads will remain closed until after the parade has passed by.
Police also advise that the "towing of vehicles parked along the parade route will start at 6 a.m."
Santa's six-kilometre route will take him from Christie Street, along Bloor Street West to Avenue Road, south on Queen's Park and University Avenue to Front Street East, ending at the St. Lawrence Market.
The 108th edition of the parade will have some new wrinkles, including a Track Santa app that will let parents know when Santa will arrive.
