Toronto police say a cyclist suffered severe head injuries when he was struck by a taxi on University Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
Paramedics said they were informed of the crash at around 2:45 p.m.
Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond tweeted that the cyclist was a man in his 50s.
The northbound lanes of University Avenue were closed between Adelaide Street and Richmond Street as a result of the crash.
A collision reconstruction team arrived at the scene late Wednesday afternoon to investigate.
