A Toronto warehouse for creative types was transformed into a cardboard funhouse on Saturday,when children and their parents set up and played home-made arcade games inspired by a heartwarming viral video.

The Global Cardboard Challenge was organized as a tribute to nine-year-old Caine Monroy, whose cardboard gaming constructions in Los Angeles became the subject of a short documentary. The short became an online sensation over the summer, logging millions of views.

The do-it-yourself arcade projects were brought together to the Artscape Wychwood Barns, where adults and children were encouraged to assemble and play each other's creations in a 650-square-metre "Cardboard Playdium."

Patrons were able to buy "Pay What You Can" Fun Passes, with the suggested donation being $2.

The event was organized by the Wychwood Barns Community Association, STOP Farmers Market, the Treehouse Group and Exhibit Change.
