Toronto police allege that a loaded revolver wrapped in a sock fell out of a man’s jacket when he was fleeing officers yesterday.

Late Wednesday afternoon, police stopped two men as part of a firearm investigation.

Police allege that a firearm was discovered during a patdown of one of the men.

Both of the suspects ran from the scene and they were joined by a third man as they fled.

While police pursued them, the first man climbed through a fence, which is when police say the sock-wrapped weapon fell to the ground.

Police say they seized a loaded .44 Magnum revolver from the scene.

The suspect ran into the O’Connor Community Centre on Victoria Park Avenue, where he was later arrested by police.

A police canine unit and emergency task force officers were part of the police response at the community centre, which was locked down when the suspect ran inside.

Parents were unable to pick up their children from a daycare located inside the community centre while police closed in the suspect they were seeking.

A 21-year-old Toronto man now faces 13 criminal counts including unauthorized possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

The two other men who fled police at the same time were also arrested Wednesday.

A 20-year-old Richmond Hill man was charged with obstructing a peace officer and a 20-year-old Toronto man was charged with possession of marijuana.
