The death of a small dog is under investigation in Durham Region, a week after a family came home to find their pet hanging from a backyard deck.
Bob Heurkens left his Orono, Ont., home for about an hour last Monday.
When he got back home with his wife, Heurkens found his family’s miniature schnauzer, Heidi, suspended from their deck on a chain attached to her collar.
Heurkens tried to revive the dog, but Heidi could not be saved.
The SPCA says it still have no leads on who might have killed the dog, or why.
