Two new public squares will be built where a lakefront surface parking lot used to be located at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre.

The parking lot has been moved underground, which has freed up space that will now be accessible to the public.

The new public squares, which are due to open by next summer, are just a part of the progress gradually being made on the city's waterfront.

While some Torontonians say that change cannot arrive fast enough, the people behind the ongoing waterfront revitalization efforts say the changes will be worth the wait in the long run.
