While Toronto Mayor Rob Ford may have launched a so-called war on graffiti during his time in office, it appears the city is becoming more flexible about what kinds of street markings need to be cleaned up.

Enforcement has been stepped up under Ford’s watch and the city has made it easier for citizens to report graffiti through an application that allows them to send in pictures of problematic tags to the city on their cellphones.

But at the same time, there is also more flexibility for enforcement officers dealing with incoming complaints and for businesses who want to have street art appearing on their walls.

The CBC's Jamie Strashin reports on the state of the graffiti war.
