Toronto police concerned about missing 12-year-old girl

Toronto police are concerned for the safety of a young girl who has been missing for nearly a month.
Dystani Heng, 12, was last seen on July 16, when she was with her mother in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area.
Police reported on Aug. 9 that the girl's mother had allegedly fled with her daughter during a parental visit the previous month.
The girl’s mother surrendered to police on Tuesday and now faces a charge of abduction in contravention of a custody order.
But police say her daughter remains missing.
The missing girl is 4'10" and weighs about 90 pounds. Her photo has been released to the media.
Her grandmother, Sharon Aldred, said her granddaughter knows how much her family cares about her.
And like the police, she is concerned that her granddaughter is still missing.
"I’m very, very worried," she said.
Aldred said that she reported to police that her granddaughter was missing when she wasn’t returned to her custody as expected last month.
Dystani's brother was also visiting family on his mother’s side when his sister went missing. But he came home to his grandmother alone.
