Peel Regional Police say the car that struck and killed an elderly man in Brampton earlier this week was a black 1999 or 2000 Honda Civic.

Joginder Singh, an 80-year-old Brampton resident, was struck at about 4 a.m. on Monday, likely as he was trying to cross Timberline Boulevard, police say. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Investigators said Friday that the vehicle had the front left corner of its bumper skin torn off near the front left wheel.

Police are asking the public, repair shops, wreckers and mechanics to be on the lookout for a vehicle that fits the description, and to watch for customers buying a new fascia. They can contact the Major Collision Bureau, police said.

Neighbours said Singh was going to a nearby Sikh temple to pray, as he usually does every morning. They said he lived on the street with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Singh was found by a passerby who called police.
