The father of the man shot to death in Scarborough Friday is asking for people to come forward with information.

"My son's life was cut short by someone who obviously doesn't respect life and all I can say at this moment is I just want people to come forward so that person will be held accountable for my son's death," Norris Vincent said.

Toronto police are investigating the slaying — the city's 15th shooting death of the year — after 30-year-old Ricardo Vincent was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a Scarborough parking lot late Friday afternoon.

A call came in at 5:45 p.m. ET from Glamorgan Avenue, in the area of Ellesmere and Kennedy roads, and Vincent was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Witnesses said they heard a loud argument and as many as five gunshots. Police believe many people saw the shooting.

Children likely witnessed shooting, residents say

Police said the victim and his immediate relatives lived in the neighbourhood, and his car was in the parking lot near where he was shot.

"This could be anybody's house, anybody's neighbourhood and it's quite alarming," Det. Sgt. Justin Vander Heyden said.

CBC's Steven Bull said a pool of blood still stains the parking lot, just metres away from a playground. Someone who lives in the building told Bull it's likely children witnessed the shooting.

Vander Heyden said police are reviewing security video.

"The video is quite shocking because it shows young children walking around in this driveway behind me," he said. "It shows people going about their daily business … People suddenly became aware of something going on in the back parking lot, and turned and started to move away. And then these two cars came flying down the driveway and people basically had to get out of the way."

The vehicles were a white four-door Honda Accord and a dark sedan, Bull said.
