Toronto police say an investigation into a reported home invasion led to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of two handguns, a shotgun, an assault rifle and hundreds of ammunition rounds.

During a Wednesday morning news conference, Det. Sgt. Madelaine Tretter outlined a series of events that began when police were called to a west-end home on the morning of June 4.

Tretter said police were called to a home on Eva Road at 5 a.m. that day, after a reported shooting and home invasion.

Investigators soon identified two suspects, who were alleged to have been involved in a dispute at a licensed establishment in Mississauga hours before.

Tretter said that a dispute occurred at the Mississauga location, which “carried out” into the parking lot and ended with shots being fired at a vehicle.

Police allege the suspects went to Eva Road address in search of someone who was involved in the earlier dispute.

“They were attending that address to look for a target,” said Tretter.

However, that target no longer lived at the Eva Road home.

Tretter said shots were fired at the Toronto address, but no one was hit.

The subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects and a search of two Oakville addresses where the guns, ammunition and “a quantity of powdered cocaine” were found and seized.

Tretter said two Oakville men are facing “numerous” charges, including several weapons offences.

She said there was no evidence to suggest that either man has gang ties.
