Police investigating reports of gunshots in the Oriole Parkway-Chaplin Crescent area discovered the body of a man early Wednesday morning.

The park was cordoned off as homicide detectives searched the grounds of Oriole Park for evidence.

Police discovered the body at about 3:00 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS said they arrived on the scene and found a man suffering from an injury, though they wouldn't say what that injury was.

Very little information has been released. Police say they are withholding the name of the victim until family members can be notified.

Oriole Park is a busy thoroughfare in mid-town, close to the intersection of Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue. It runs between Chaplin Crescent and Frobisher Avenue, just west of the Davisville subway station.

The death marks Toronto's 16th homicide of 2012.
