Toronto breaks 74-year-old temperature record

Toronto set a record on Thursday for the warmest March 22 and came close to setting the record for the warmest March day ever.
The temperature at Pearson International Airport hit 25.5 C, breaking the old record of 24.4 C set back in 1938.
"We didn't hit the record for the all-time warmest day in March," CBC meterologist Michelle Leslie said Thursday. "That was 25.6. We got to 25.5. However, we did break the record for today, which was a 74-year-old record."
Leslie said the warm weather continued a string of five consecutive days of record-breaking temperatures in Toronto.
"This could be the hottest March on record for the City of Toronto,” she said.
Leslie said the streak is likely to end Friday with forecasts calling for cooler temperatures.
“While Friday will still be warm, temps will be about 10 degrees cooler," she said.
Temperatures over the next few days are forecast to hit between 11 C and 16 C, which is still well above seasonal.
