Toronto police have released the name of a man charged with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a child on Boxing Day.
Police say a four-year-old girl was taken from a residence in the Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue area in the early hours of Dec. 26.
Her family found her outside shortly after she was reported missing.
At the time, police said a male suspect was seen fleeing the scene.
Toronto police released an image of Ryan Belbin to media on Wednesday. While police announced on Saturday that they had arrested a man in connection with the case, they did not initially release his name.
A press conference was scheduled for Tuesday, but was abruptly cancelled because of a publication ban issue.
On Wednesday, police sent out a media release identifying Ryan Belbin, 28, as the man they had arrested.
The Toronto man is charged with four criminal counts: break and enter, abduction of a person under 14, sexual assault and sexual interference.
In the media release, police said they believe “there may be other victims.”
