Toronto police say they will release more information Tuesday about the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a four-year-old girl on Boxing Day.

A man was arrested this weekend, but so far police have been tight-lipped with details.

"We're not releasing his name or charges at this point because it could very well compromise the investigation," Const. Tony Vella said Monday. "So we're asking the public and media, if you know his name, if you have photographs of the man, not to release it at this point."

The man appeared in court on Sunday.

The alleged incident involved a four-year-old Connecticut girl who was visiting a home in the Bathurst and Wilson area.

On Boxing Day, police reported that the girl had been taken from her bed in the overnight hours.

Her parents woke up and found her missing. The child was found wandering outside shortly later.

At the time, police said the family saw a man fleeing the scene where the girl was located.
