The two men found shot to death in a parking garage near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue on Monday were brothers, Toronto police say.

Justin Waterman, 18, and Jerome Waterman, 22, both of Toronto, were found at 325 Bogert Ave. after police received a call just before 4 p.m. ET.

Police said both men were suffering from gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, their bodies lying side by side at a dead-end stairwell.

Police also say they believe it was a targeted attack and are still looking for suspects in the execuction-style slayings.

People fled from the area after the shooting, but Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga said he couldn't be sure whether they were suspects or people running from the sound of gunshots.

Victim was a new father

Both brothers were known to police.

Idsinga said police found shell casings at the scene that appeared to have come from a semi-automatic firearm.

But still unclear to investigators was why both men were at the building in the first place, as neither appeard to have any connection to the address.

"We're speaking to family members, trying to identify why they were there?" Const. Tony Vella said.

Adding to the tragedy, the elder of the two brothers, Jerome, had only just two days ago become a father to a baby girl.
