A Toronto man faces charges in a deadly collision that claimed the lives of two of his passengers last fall.

The crash occurred in Mississauga on Oct. 24, when a Mazda collided with a Jeep in the controlled intersection of Hurontario Street and the Queensway.

The two passengers riding in the back of the Mazda died instantly, while a front-seat passenger suffered critical injuries.

The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries.

Peel police announced Tuesday that they had arrested Jan Giemza, 68, and charged him with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Giemza was driving the Mazda at the time of the crash. His wife was the front-seat passenger who survived the crash.

He is due to appear in a Brampton court for a bail hearing.
