A teenage boy has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a train in Oshawa on Monday afternoon.

Durham police say the teen was hit along the CN line at Wilson Road and Bloor Street.

The teen was found near the tracks after the collision, which was reported to police at 3:11 p.m.

The teen was conscious when taken to Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa.

He was subsequently airlifted to a Toronto hospital and later died.

Police say the teen was listening to a device when he was hit and that the distraction may have led to his death.
