Head-on crash leaves woman dead on Highway 427

The crash claimed the life of a 54-year-old Woodbridge woman.A head-on crash on Highway 427 claimed a woman’s life on Monday night.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told CBC News that the two-vehicle collision occurred just before 9 p.m., in the southbound lanes near Derry Road.
“It appears that both vehicles sustained quite significant front-end damage, which would indicate a head-on type of collision,” Schmidt said.
Police determined that one of the vehicles was headed northbound when it crossed over the centre median and struck a southbound vehicle.
The vehicles came to rest in a ditch on the west side of the highway.
A 54-year-old Woodbridge woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been driving the northbound vehicle.
No names have been released.
