A Toronto police sergeant was taken to hospital early Friday after her cruiser struck the side of a transit bus at high speed in the city's east end.
It's estimated her car was travelling 70 km/h at the time of the crash on Danforth Avenue at Main Street, the CBC's Tony Smyth reported.
Her cruiser T-boned the bus, causing massive front-end damage.
The sergeant was on her way to assist other officers involved in a foot chase at the time of the collision, which occurred at about 1:30 a.m.
The officer was originally reported to have severe leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Michael's Hospital downtown. Smyth later reported that her injuries are not as serious as first thought and are not life-threatening.
The bus driver suffered hand injuries in the collision.
After the crash, the roads were closed for several blocks around the intersection.
