A married couple from Oshawa, Ont. who won the jackpot in last Friday's Lotto Max draw picked up a cheque for $50 million on Thursday.

Don and Linda Ingram have been married for 30 years and are cooks at a local restaurant in the community about 45 minutes east of Toronto.

Don told reporters on Thursday that he may work for another week but after that the couple will be retired.

Linda checked the numbers at a local convenience store where she regularly buys tickets early Saturday morning.

She said she had to wake her husband up to tell him they'd won.

"Don, wake up, wake up, get up, get up, we just won $50 million," said Linda recounting how excited she was after finding out they were the big winners. "And he's like, 'What?'"

Linda said when he began to take it all in he said, "Shut up and prove it to me."

The Ingrams say they will use the money to help family and to make sure they never have money worries ever again.

They also asked for people to give them privacy while they try to adjust to their newfound wealth.

"Well, it'll calm down eventually," said Don.

"I appreciate everybody's support, happiness and enthusiasm for us," said Linda, "but after today we'd just appreciate our privacy and just be left alone so we can just calm down and take it all in."
