Toronto police have now identified the teen who was shot and killed in the city's east end on Friday afternoon.

Bradley Matheson, 19, was shot in a sixth-floor stairwell at 90 Eastdale Avenue at about 3 p.m., near the intersection of Main Street and Danforth Avenue.

Dayton Washington, who lives in the building, said "I heard a pop, looked outside the building. I looked over the balcony and saw people. It didn't looked like a peaceful assembly of people."

Washington said he saw a group of about five men arguing.

Local city councillor Janet Davis dropped by the high rise concerned for those affected by the crime.

"This is not an affluent neighbourhood. These are hard working folks, paying their rent, feeding their kids, going to work. It's a sad day," said Davis.

Police say Matheson was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
