Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty says Ontarians should pick the Progressive Conservatives in the provincial election on Oct. 6.

Flaherty endorsed the PCs after a speech by the provincial party Leader Tim Hudak at the Economic Club in Toronto on Friday.

Flaherty told the audience Ontario can't afford four more years under Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty, who is seeking a third term as premier. Flaherty said Hudak is the only choice for premier in this election.

Flaherty was provincial finance minister under former premier Mike Harris before he quit to join the federal Conservatives. He is married to Christine Elliott, the Progressive Conservative health critic in the last legislative session.

Elliott is running for re-election in the riding of Whitby-Oshawa.
