An 18-year-old student was stabbed in the face outside a Catholic school for adults in Toronto's east end Monday morning.

Police are searching for four male suspects following an altercation Monday morning outside Monsignor Fraser College, a Catholic adult education centre near the Midland and Finch area in Scarborough.

The student was stabbed with a sharp object around 11 a.m., and will likely require two to three stitches near his cheek and ear, said police Const. Tony Vella. He was able to walk to an ambulance. The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening and he is expected to recover.

Although the weapon used was reportedly a pair of scissors, police have not been able to confirm this.

Emmy Milne, who speaks for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, confirmed Monday that the school was immediately put in lockdown and that staff who found the victim called for medical assistance. The lockdown was lifted in the afternoon.

No arrests have been made in the incident, but police are seeking four black males between the ages of 18 and 21. They were last seen boarding a public transit bus.

Police are still checking whether the suspects are students at the school.
