For the third time since Saturday, glass has fallen from the same condo tower in downtown Toronto.
The area around the condo at 1 Bedford Road, near Bloor Street West and Bedford Road, has been blocked off after a pane of glass fell from one of the building's balconies at about 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
Michelle Wu, who has lived in the condo for the past two years, is worried.
"I was so nervous," she said. "And I don't know what next is going to happen."
When the glass rained down on Monday a woman was slightly injured.
In total there have been five incidents at the same building, but only the one minor injury.
Officials from the city and the builder are trying to determine what is causing the problem.
Ann Borooah, the city's chief building official, says the city has ordered safety measures "but we need more information on the causes to determine what the next course of action should be."
The city has inspectors visiting the site daily.
"It is an usual concentration of issues that is causing us to pay considerable attention to what might be involved," said Borooah.
Forensic engineer Doug Perovic said Tuesday he thinks it might be the glass that is the problem.
He speculates there may be a problem with the glass installed at this building.
"It's possible that this batch at this building has excessive amounts of this one type of impurity," he said.
Toronto Coun. Kristyn Wong-Tam says perhaps what the incident shows is that a third-party should approve new plans
"Perhaps we need to ask for an impartial review and audit that work before we give off final city approval," she said.
