A Markham teen has swum across Lake Ontario in aid of a Toronto hospital.

Rebekah Boscariol, 17, touched shore at Toronto's Marilyn Bell Park, on Saturday afternoon, a little over 15 hours after starting off from Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The young swimmer undertook the 52-kilometre swim to raise funds for the Hospital for Sick Children, her way of thanking the hospital for the July 19 surgery that repaired a hole in the heart of her sister Sophia, 4.

So far Boscariol's swim has raised approximately $10,000 for the hospital's cardiac care unit.
