After nearly two years of investigation Woodstock police have charged five Toronto men with arson.

One of the men has also been charged with manslaughter.

On Aug. 12, 2009, the Iron Grill Restaurant in the southwestern Ontario city, caught fire and exploded.

The restaurant "was closed for business at the time of the explosion and fire and had been closed for the two weeks prior, while undergoing repairs for an incident of flooding," police said.

There were two men outside the restaurant at the time of the fire. Both were badly burned.

One man, Sarfraz Ahmad, 20, died later in hospital.

On Friday, police announced the arrests of five men in connection with the crime.

Usama Akhter, 21, is charged with arson and manslaughter.

Arun Rajendiran, 21, Sitharthan Prabakarian, 23, Gajenthira Narenthira, 21, and Jeyakumar Shanmuganathan, 39, face charges of conspiracy to commit arson.

All of the accused are from Toronto.
