Toronto police are seeking the public’s help in the homicide of Allan Lanteigne, who was found dead on Thursday.

Police found Lanteigne, 49, in his apartment at 934 Ossington Ave. after a friend, concerned that he hadn’t shown up to work that day, called police.

Det. Sgt. Dan Nielsen said the body “had obvious signs of trauma” but said police are not yet releasing the cause of death. Police would also not say whether they suspect a weapon was used.

Lanteigne worked as an office clerk at the University of Toronto and nights as a caterer, Nielsen said. No one reported seeing him after he left work at his usual time of 5 p.m.

Lanteigne generally walked home from work, a trip that took about 30 minutes, Nielsen said, adding the deceased had no previous contact with police.

“We don’t have a motive,” Nielsen said. “From what we’re hearing, he’s a nice man with no enemies that we know of.”

Police have been told Lanteigne is married to a same-sex partner.

“We’re not sure what the status of that relationship is right now,” Nielsen told CBC News. “We’re told that his partner is outside of the country.”

Police are asking anyone who saw Lanteigne after 5 p.m. ET on March 2, or has any other information about the case to contact them.
