Toronto police said the pedestrian was struck on Wellington Street West near Blue Jays Way by an SUV that fled the scene.
(Google) Toronto police say it's only a matter of time before they catch up with the driver wanted in a fatal hit-and-run that took place in the city's entertainment district early Saturday.
"There's good-quality video, which really helped us in this investigation, along with a lot of people that came forward who have been interviewed," said Det.-Sgt. Dan Nielson.
Vincent Dang, 20, of Concord, Ont., was killed when struck down by an SUV on Wellington Street West.
His death has been ruled the city's 57th homicide of the year.
Toronto police are calling 20-year-old Vincent Dang's death a homicide after he was struck and killed by an SUV in the entertainment district. (Toronto Police Services) Police were called to the Rockwood Club on Mercer Street at around 2 a.m. Saturday because of a fight between two groups of men, including Dang. Bouncers broke up the fight and both groups left.
Security camera footage from businesses in the area show Dang and several friends walking along Wellington Street. A grey or light-blue Chevy Suburban is seen turning west onto Wellington and drives the wrong way down the one-way street.
The SUV then makes a U-turn and drives toward the group. It mounts the sidewalk, hits Dang, runs him over and drives away. Dang died later in hospital.
The driver is described as a man in his early 20s with a dark complexion, thin build, a moustache and goatee.
There were three to five others in the SUV when it hit Dang. Police say the vehicle is likely damaged on its front right side.
