The names of the two men shot and killed in Toronto's west end earlier this week have been released.

Courthney Facey, 18, and Mike James, 23, were shot and killed near Lawrence Avenue West and Weston Road. Both men are from Toronto.

Police said they received dozens of 911 calls after at least 10 shots were fired in the area just after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Police said Friday in a news release they believe "the two victims were standing together, near 1765 Weston Rd., when a black SUV drove through the laneway and opened fire on the two men."

Facey was shot in the head and James was shot in the abdomen.

Both men died a short time later in hospital.

Earlier, neighbours had reported hearing an argument, followed by the barrage of shots.

Police investigators are looking for the vehicle, which they believe was a BMW. It was seen leaving the area, heading north on Weston Road toward Lawrence.

"And we're appealing to anyone who saw that vehicle, or who has any information in relation to the shootings, to contact police," said Const. Wendy Drummond.
