Toronto police have taken two men and two women into custody after more than 20 cars were vandalized early Wednesday morning on Crawford Street.

Police say the four used a baseball bat to smash side mirrors and do other damage to the cars parked on the quiet residential street in Little Italy.

Antonio Deoliveira was annoyed when he saw what had happened to his vehicle.

"I was a little pissed," he said. "Then I had a business card from a policeman on the windshield and called them up. They kind of told me what happened."

"We have approximately 23 vehicles that have been damaged," said Const. Tony Vella. "There very well could be more."

In the end it turned out 22 vehicles had been damaged with "hands, rocks, bricks, and other objects," according to a news release from police.

One car owner saw what was happening and called police who arrested the four shortly afterwards.

Some worry that people spilling into their neighbourhood from nearby bars are responsible for all the vandalism and violence.

"I'm scared to go up to Bloor and Ossington. Because there's so many bad people," said Lydia D'Angelo.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor and damage is thought to be in the thousands of dollars.

Jessica De Carvalho, 18, Monica Cordeiro, 18; Andrea Sechi, 20, and Anthony Belerique, 20, all of Toronto, have each been charged with 22 counts of mischief.
