Toronto police have released new photos and videos of suspects who did damage during the G20 protests. (Canadian Press) Toronto police say they are now on the hunt for "the worst of the worst offenders" who did damage during the G20 weekend.
On Thursday the G20 investigative team released more photos and videos of suspects.
Det. Gary Giroux called these suspects "truly the worst of the worst offenders and are responsible for literally thousands of dollars worth of damage."
One of the people police are searching for is a man, believed to be from New York, who smashed windows with a small pickaxe.
Giroux said he believes two of the suspects are from New York. Police are also in touch with their colleagues in Montreal in their search for another man.
"These are the most prolific individuals in terms of damage done to the city," said Giroux.
The G20 special investigation team has made 20 arrests so far.
The appeal for the public's help in identifying the suspects comes in the same week that more than 300 people appeared in court to face charges in connection with the June 25-27 G20 weekend.
More than 70 people had the charges against them withdrawn. Most others will return to court later in the year.
Giroux told a news conference on Thursday afternoon that if these latest suspects are found, the charges will not be withdrawn.
"These charges are 100 per cent going to stick. Of those 60 charges, I could go to trial in an hour and a half from now and prove every single one of them. So I have no concerns with regards to those. They will be aggressively prosecuted," he said.
