A man shot in the head in Lawrence Heights on Tuesday night has died of his injuries.

The man, who has not been identified, was shot, near the Allen Expressway and Highway 401.

A second man was also wounded in the shooting.

The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Cather Crescent, where a number of families were out enjoying the summer evening, police said. After gunshots rang out, people scattered and called the police.

Both men were found outside two separate homes on the street.

One 24-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head, and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The other man, 36, was shot in the shoulder. He was treated and released from hospital.

The 24-year-old died Wednesday afternoon.

Police have recovered shell casings, but have no suspects or witnesses.

"We're hoping that the public will co-operate with this investigation," said Insp. Bryan Bott.

Meanwhile, another 27-year-old man is in serious condition after he was in the leg and the buttocks in Etobicoke.

The shooting happened at around 10 p.m. near Royal York Road and Evans Avenue. Police have not identified any suspects.
