The OPP raided government offices in Toronto on July 15. (CBC) Premier Dalton McGuinty is shedding more light on the police raids on Ontario government offices in downtown Toronto earlier this month.
Speaking in Trenton, Ont., McGuinty said the three offices that are the target of the provincial police corruption probe are the ministries of Transportation, Economic Development and Trade, and Community and Social Services.
The Ontario Provincial Police anti-rackets branch seized a number of documents during the July 15 raid on the Macdonald Block, an office tower across the street from the legislature that houses 13 agencies and ministries.
However, no one has been charged in connection with the investigation, which provincial police say centres on irregular financial transactions between government and outside vendors.
McGuinty says he has no information about the specific nature of the allegations that prompted the corruption probe, and would hate to see all public servants tarred with the same brush.
Until now, the Liberal government had refused to confirm which three ministries were the target of the investigation.
