The removal of nearly 70 closed circuit TV cameras, installed as part of the security for the G20 summit, has started.

Toronto Police confirmed Tuesday the removals were underway.

The cameras were installed throughout the downtown in early June.

The intention had always been to remove the CCTV cameras at the end of the summit, although 18 existing cameras will remain.

The three-metre high fence that surrounded the summit site has also been removed.
