A storm system threatening southern Ontario skipped the region, but not before raising concerns about severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes.
Environment Canada ended its severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor-Essex County, Sarnia-Lambton County and Chatham-Kent Wednesday afternoon.
The national weather service had also advised of the risk for strong storms for all areas from London through Toronto to Barrie, but by mid-afternoon said the threat had dissipated.
The risk of isolated tornadoes was a particular concern for residents of Essex County, where a category F2, or moderate, tornado ripped through the region on June 6, destroying homes and businesses and causing damage in the tens of millions of dollars.
The town of Leamington, which suffered major destruction from the twister, finally ended its state of emergency on Tuesday.
